The Scoop on Sculptra®

2023 has been an exciting year so far at Ooh La La Spa, Anti-Aging & Wellness in Glen Carbon! We’ve brought in new treatments for our patients, including HALO® Laser, BBL (BroadBand Light), AviClear™ Acne Laser and now Sculptra!

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra injections are dermal fillers that help skin restore a smoother, more youthful appearance that lasts up to two years or more. Sculptra, with the help of its key ingredient poly-L-lactic acid, is a collagen stimulator that works to restore the structure of the skin, diminishing facial wrinkles and restoring your skin’s volume and inner structure. As Sculptra is absorbed, it helps stimulate your body’s natural production of collagen type 1 deep in the dermis. Those rebuilt collagen strands begin gradually restoring facial volume and bringing fullness back to areas with wrinkles and folds.

Am I a Good Candidate For Sculptra?

It’s entirely normal for your appearance to change as you age. But just because it’s normal doesn’t mean it’s something that you want or have to deal with. Sculptra is best for anyone who:

  • Wants Fuller Cheeks
  • Wants to Get Rid of Jowls
  • Has Marionette Lines (lines on corners of mouth)
  • Has Nasolabial Folds (wrinkles around mouth and nose)

Sculptra ResultsWhen Will I See Results from Sculptra?

Unlike hyaluronic acid filler, where results are seen immediately, Sculptra can take 6-12 weeks to stimulate collagen, and will continue to produce collagen for the next 6 months. We like our patients to come back 6-8 weeks after their initial treatment, about 3 months after their second treatment and continue until the desired result is obtained.

The good news: collagen stimulated from Sculptra typically lasts for 2+ years.

How Often Will I Need to Get Sculptra?

The number of injection appointments (and the number of injections per appointment) varies from person to person. It varies depending on how much collagen has been lost. On average, three injection appointments are needed over a period of a few months. Maintenance injections are normally done every 9-12 months as desired or needed after that.
